The fine print, kept honest.

1. What Beckon is

Beckon is an iOS alarm built for heavy and deep sleepers. It wakes you by calling your own name, out loud, at a moment you can’t predict and never the same way twice — so your brain can’t tune it out. To turn it off you complete a quick tap-the-light reaction check that proves you’re actually awake.

Beckon is a tool to help you wake up — not a guarantee. It is designed to be reliable and to resist habituation, but no alarm can promise you’ll wake on any given morning.

2. Using the app

• There is no account and no sign-up. You don’t register; you just open the app and set your alarm.
• You need a compatible device — an iPhone running iOS 26 or later (Beckon relies on Apple’s AlarmKit).
• You are responsible for your own device, your device permissions (alarms/notifications, and optionally location and calendar for the morning briefing), and keeping your operating system up to date.

3. Alarm reliability

Beckon schedules its alarms through Apple’s AlarmKit so they fire through Silent mode, Focus, and a locked phone. However, alarm delivery ultimately depends on Apple’s system, your device’s state, battery, and settings. Do not rely on Beckon alone for safety-critical waking. We are not responsible for missed wake-ups, oversleeping, or any consequences of an alarm not firing as expected.

4. Your content & data

• The name, schedule, and wake records you create are yours. They are stored on your device.
• We claim no license to your data. We do not use it for marketing, for training AI models, or for any other purpose. We never see it.
• Because Beckon is on-device and we keep no server copy, we cannot recover your data if you delete the app. See the Privacy Policy for the full data architecture, including the optional weather and calendar features.

5. Beckon Pro

The core alarm is free and fully reliable — there is no paywall on the thing that matters. Beckon Pro is an optional upgrade that unlocks extra voices, recorded-voice wake (your own or a loved one’s), advanced adaptation, and premium wake themes. Buying Pro also helps support an indie developer.

6. Auto-renewable subscriptions

Beckon Pro is offered as auto-renewable subscriptions and a one-time purchase. The following terms apply to the auto-renewable subscriptions, per Apple’s requirements:

• Plans & price. Monthly — $3.99 USD / month; Annual — $19.99 USD / year, with a 7-day free trial. Prices are shown in your local currency at parity and may vary by region. A separate Lifetime option is $49.99 USD as a one-time purchase — it is NOT a subscription and does not renew.
• Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
• Auto-renewal. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you selected.
• Manage or cancel. You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renew in your Apple Account settings (iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions) at any time after purchase. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Free trial. Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
• Family Sharing. Beckon Pro is enabled for Family Sharing.

This app’s use is also governed by Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Apple Standard EULA) and our Privacy Policy.

7. Payments, renewals & refunds

• All purchases are processed by Apple StoreKit. We do not see your payment method. Apple handles billing, renewals, the free trial, and refunds.
• Refunds are handled by Apple per their policy: reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds directly. There are no partial refunds for unused time on a subscription.
• Restore — “Restore Purchases” brings back any prior entitlement attached to your Apple ID.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app or its StoreKit configuration.
• Use the app in any way that violates applicable law.
• Interfere with or disrupt the app’s normal operation, or circumvent purchase/entitlement checks.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the app or its assets.

9. Disclaimers & liability

Beckon is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep it reliable, but we make no promises about:

• Wake-ups. Beckon is a tool, not a guarantee. We do not promise that you will wake on any given morning, and you should not rely on it alone for safety-critical waking.
• Weather & calendar. The optional morning briefing depends on Apple Weather, your calendar, your permissions, and connectivity, and may be unavailable or inaccurate.
• Backup. Your data lives on your device; we keep no separate backup we can restore from.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Codeful is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including missed wake-ups or loss of data. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you have paid for Beckon Pro in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, for free users, is zero). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Termination

You can stop using Beckon and delete it at any time. Deleting the app removes its on-device data. Because there is no account, there is nothing for us to close on our side. Any active subscription continues under Apple’s terms until you cancel auto-renew in your Apple Account settings.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes will be heard in the competent courts of Gyeonggi-do, Korea, except where consumer-protection laws of your country require otherwise (in which case those local laws and courts apply for the parts of the dispute they cover).
